Blackcurrant & Raspberry

1 lb blackcurrants 1 pint water
2 lb raspberries 4 lb granulated sugar

Method

Remove any stalks from the currants and wash them.

Drain well and put in a pan with the water. Simmer gently until the currants burst and are soft.

Add the raspberries and continue simmering gently until they too are well broken down.

Add the sugar and proceed as usual.

This mixture seems to keep better than blackcurrants on their own but loses its fresh taste over time.
