Making Radio Valves by Hand!
This French Radio Ham (Callsign F2FO) makes radio valves by hand - well with a few tools - blow-torch, vacuum pump, spot-welder and Swiss army knife.
There is a superb video near the bottom of the page showing the whole process.
The results are maybe a little rough looking but they just show where it all started and can bring old receivers back to life.
- Period Property Forum Interesting source of information for owners of older properties who want to keep them in good condition. The Discussion Forum is a great place to chat about problems that arise when renovating, repairing or extending.
- Origami meets petrolhead Mad! Quite completely mad! Nearly 6000 parts and it even turns. From experience of handling the real thing I can assure you this one is very much easier to lift! Checkout the gallery of pictures and movies only the authentic V8 sound is missing!
- Hack-A-Day Every day a new example of how to divert a piece of technology to do something useful for you beyond its original purpose. Some are wacky and some are brilliant and of course many include an Arduino - even if only for street cred!

Maeshowe Webcam
Maeshowe is a Neolithic Chambered Cairn in Orkney. It is an amazing piece of construction
and is aligned such that the setting sun at mid-winter shines down the entrance tunnel onto the facing wall.
Orkney is a long way to go in December but these people have set up webcams in the site and, weather permitting, you can watch the effects as the sun sets.
In case the weather is bad or you cannot drop in at the right time they have pictures and movies of previous sunsets
